So the best instant pot for large families. It will be a tough one. Mainly because all of us have a different idea of what a large family is. In my case, a large family is my family, and the family of my wife is joint together. All of them together count up to 50 people or so. These numbers are more like house crashing army than a family gathering.

If you wonder, are the instant pots worth it? You can check here and find out.

On the other hand, you might think about a big family as many people in one household, say, mom, dad, and 6 to 7 children. It depends on the point of view.

So in this article, I’m trying to balance this point to find some middle ground in between. This approach should give you some reasonable options that best fit your needs.

Before I get into the nitty-gritty, the best choice that gives you many options in terms of size and usage is 10 quarter big instant pot called Instant Pot Duo Nova Pressure Cooker 7 in 1.

It is an excellent, large, simple, and popular option. You’re not going to miss the mark if you choose this one.

So with that out of the way, let’s take a closer look at the other options you might have and consider. If you are only interested in a quick and brief comparison table, look down below.

The volume of an instant pot for a large family

As the heading suggests, it is all about the volume. However, I have been amazed that in the current market, there is not a lot of options to choose from in terms of really really really big instant pot.

It seems evident that for a big family, it is better to have a bigger instant pot. But the manufacturers in most cases are creating only the instant pots that are up to 8 quarts.

While the 8-quart pot can support up to 4 to 5 family members, if you have a more prominent family than that, you might be considering cooking in two batches. You are trying to save money and time, after all, so bigger is better.

But getting them is proving to be more complicated than I thought.

I’ve been able to find a couple, and they are listed above, but it is so strange that you cannot get a bigger selection of large instant pots these days. Your choice is pretty much limited to 10 quarts one, 13 quarts one, and pressure cookers with sizes up to 79 quarts.

Not a great range of choices, in my opinion, but the choices nonetheless.

By the way, if you’re considering the commercial aluminum pressure cooker, do bear in mind that the biggest version of it can feed a small army.

My recommendation will be to get it if you plan to host a large party or work in a restaurant. Or maybe you are planning a wedding or something similar to that because the largest version of this baby can fit in pretty much anything you can imagine food-wise.

Note.: The cooking in an instant pot that is big is the same as in the regular one. If you’re interested in how the instant pot works, you can find an article about it right here

The price range of an instant pot for a large family

In terms of price, I’m going just slightly to touch upon the topic. I do believe that these instant pots are quite reasonably priced for their size. Maybe in terms of the commercial aluminum pressure cooker, not so much.

In general, we are talking about costs around 150$ for instant pots up to 13 quarts in size, which sounds steep, but long-term if you are going to use it at least a couple of times a week, you will get your money worth back soon. For anything bigger, you have to expect quite a bit more.

For example, the Buffalo QCP420 21 quarts version costs almost 400$, then again you are going to most likely use it for big family parties and such occasions.

On the other hand, if you’re going to use it in a restaurant or any other place which requires you to cook a large amount of food in a short amount of time, I would say it is worth it.

In fact, the larger the instant pot is, the cheaper the cost per portion will be.

How to make the best of it

Apart from the mentioned parties, weddings, celebrations, restaurants, schools, and many other places, I would recommend using the bigger instant pot in the following ways.

Instant pot’s primary usage will be most likely family dinners, lunches, gatherings, and occasions like this. But even if you are not expecting big family dinners or parties or anything like that, always plan.

The reason why I’m saying this is that you don’t want to be stuck with a large amount of food that you cannot use or eat or gift to anyone or store it.

Planning will be your best friend in this regard.

Make sure that you have sealable bags or plastic containers in which you can store/freeze the food you have cooked available, and you have an abundance of them.

It’s always better to have something stored in the freezer for later. You can keep it there for the next week or for those times when you don’t have money or time to cook something tasty.

Also, you might have heard a lot of bad things about the dangers of instant pots. If so and you are not sure about getting one, I do recommend checking my article about the dangers of instant pots here.

Is the Best Instant Pot for a Large Family Also Suitable for a Family of 4?

Finding the best instant pot for a family often raises the question of its suitability for different family sizes. While an instant pot designed for a large family may work for a family of four, it’s essential to consider both cooking capacity and individual requirements. Factors like meal quantity, versatility, and personal preferences should dictate the choice to ensure the best instant pot for family needs.

Final word

And that’s it.

I hope that I have given you the best summary of the options you have in terms of the instant pot and their usage for a big family.

Also, it is good to mention that this article is a part of the series called instant pots, which one to buy.

It is all from me today. I hope you found this helpful, and I will be looking for you in my next article. I wish you to have calm and relaxed cooking in the instant pot for your big family.
